Handpicked grapes from the Slanghoek Valley. The Chenin blanc is from registered old vines. Gently pressed into a settling tank for 36 hrs. A component of Chenin blanc was fermented until dry on the skins. Racked into old French Oak where alcoholic and Malolactic fermentation occurs spontaneously. 10 months ageing before bottling. Unfined.

Mushroom, lemon, rose petal, lilac, apple, melon, honeysuckle, white pepper. Not terribly aromatic but full bodied and a beautiful bit of funk to go with it. Went great with spicy food.

This is fascinating . It’s a big wine. On the nose, there is tropical fruit, oak, smoke, nutty flavors. On the palette, it’s rich and concentrated. There is a wool flavor on the finish, green tea — classic Chenin. Definitely big - buttery. It’s not crazy acidic. The oak, vanilla, almond, comes through quite is strong. I don’t get a ton fruit - some banana, tropical flavors for sure. It’s an interesting wine!

This was a really fun wine. Not too aromatic, but the blend really added some complexity to Chenin Blanc. I think the oily component of Viognier comes through nicely. Full bodied, more rounded compared to single variety Chenins. Lavender, white flower, cream, stone fruit, minerality. Smooth finish. Would definitely drink again!
